Year 4 started their journey into 3D model making by first constructing simple nets from a template.

The next step was to work on making their own geometric shapes and structures, using tabs to join faces together. They were told to get as experimental as they wanted and try to make new shapes. They had a template of a square and an equilateral triangle to ensure the pieces would fit together in lots of combinations.

The next step was to design and make a small building using the simple technique of using tabs and scoring edges.
Starting out with a floor plan on a piece of card, strips of coloured card were accurately measured and cut to make the walls, attached to the base with tabs. From here it was down to their own imagination on what sort of building, what colours, what shapes, windows, gutters, gardens, paths etc. etc.
